Cue the cheezy Noooooo scream from StarWars Episode III.
One of the only funny shows on TV has been canceled. (Well, canceled according some sources and “In trouble” from others. Regardless, the order has been cut from 22 to 13 episodes for this season).
Arrested Development rewards smart viewers and unfortunately that’s probably why people don’t watch it. They’re just not smart enough to get it.
Since I touched on Michael Bay earlier this week. I figured I needed to link to this article about his latest moobie “The Island” over at MSNBC:

Here’s a quick quote:
Whether Bay is directing “Pearl Harbor” or “Armageddon” or his new science-fiction epic, “The Island,” you know exactly what to expect: (a) a plot that recycles ideas from better movies, (b) a love story so unapologetically banal that only George Lucas could rival it, (c) chase sequences that defy logic but are usually loud enough to silence any objections, and (d) explosives that blow up real good.

Bravo Mr. Hartl, Bravo!

Too bad about the name though…
Battlestar Galactica is hands down the best show on television. I’m sure 99% of you out there that have not bothered to watch it yet are saying: “Yeah, some nerd SciFi show is the best show on TV… Right….” Well watch it tonight and every Friday.
It’s more of a drama set in space than a “Setting phasers to stun and re-calibrating the deflector shield will solve all of our problems.” kind of show.
It has all the makings of a great drama:
*real* character development < -- try that on for size Michael Bay and Jerry Bruckheimer
Political headaches
Personal struggles
Real world tie-ins
Religious undertones
etc. etc.
Some StarTrek nerd said it best:
Dillon points out that episodes of the survival-epic GALACTICA have dealt with contemporary issues such as suicide bombers, civil rights, torture, and the paranoia of a society fearing infiltration by those who wish to destroy it.
And it does it all without being preachy or shoving an ideology down your throat. It makes you THINK.
Watch it!
