8 years and 17 spots on the ratings charts
I used to be proud of Birmingham Alt. Radio. WRAX was constantly breaking new artists like Train, Matchbox20, and John Mayer (yeah yeah, some of those artists are very passe now, but they were the isht back in the day).
Now the most they can offer us is an email once an hour letting us know that they played some shitty Nickelback song for the 15th time today.
When will corporate radio learn?
And btw, it was a rough weekend in the boomer household, but I’m waiting until DrWife has some time to post up the details herself. Part of the reason behind the URL change (you did notice it didn’t you?) was to facilitate us blogging together. I’m looking forward to her first post.
I’m with everyone else up this tag line (like southern gent and 11a.m. Air Raid), I normally hate these things, but this one piqued my interest..

But UAB lost, I had one too many beers, and I’m tired… I’ll probably get to it tomorrow….
UAB faces 3rd ranked Memphis tonight @ 7pm in the FedEx Forum. The first of what will likely be 3 meetings between these teams. UAB and Memphis both play full court press basketball. This will probably be THE fastest 40 minutes of basketball that we play this year… It’s not to be missed…

Here is a scan of the program from UAB’s first Basketball game on November 24, 1978.
Can’t miss items: the sweet fros, the daisy dukes (on the basketball players), and the superfly disco ad from Parisian on the last page.
helluva was looking for the UAB master plan image and I remembered finding it in some document on UAB site…

I’ve got to say that in addition to loving the old houses in our neighborhood, one of the main reasons I want to stay in the City of Birmingham is the continued growth of UAB. It makes me feel good seeing my alma mater grow like this!
