I’m sure some of you have heard about the Rock Boat. For those of you that haven’t, it’s basically a cruise with 20 or so bands (like Sister Hazel, O.A.R., Cowboy Mouth, Gaelic Storm, etc).
Well, my favorite local band The Ugli Stick has made it to the second round in a contest being put on by Icehouse. The contest will award one of the unsigned bands a spot on the Rock Boat this September, and one of the fans that voted for them a FREE CRUISE!
So I’m going to encourage ALL of you to get out there and vote for The Ugli Stick by going to http://www.icehouse.com.
I’ve been listening to the other bands, and with the exception of Bain Mattox I’m not really seeing how any of the other bands are any different than the crap that they spin on the radio every damn day. So go vote, win yourself a free cruise.
BTW, You can vote 3x per day, and The Ugli Stick will be playing at the Barking Kudu in Birmingham this Saturday night…
My second installment of HNT, and I’m falling back on my family again….
My daughter is not even a week old and she already has Half-Nekkid pictures of herself on the internet….
*sigh*

Fairlyn arrived at 12:40 PM CDT today (July 22nd, 2005), weighing in at 7 lbs, 1 oz and 20 inches in length.
Here’s a few pics taken before she even got a proper bath (and I’m crossing my fingers that PBase has all of their problems from the other day worked out):

Mom and baby both are doing GREAT!
I am consistently impressed with my wife’s ability to take a situation by the nads and own it.
Today, she did not disappoint. She pushed through the pain during the first 3 or so hours, and after the epidural (thank God for those things), she was a pro! 3 hours later we were meeting our new daughter.
Fairlyn has been pretty content so far, feeding for about 20 minutes about 30 minutes after birth, and then again here recently for about 40 minutes. She has fussed very little (knock on wood) and she hasn’t slept nearly as much as I thought she would….
We’ll keep you updated!
Well, I’m going to try and participate in this new found debauchery called Half-Nekkid Thursday (HNT). As most things go on the Internet, I heard it from somebody, who heard it from somebody, who actually started it…..
Well, since I’m not that important right now, my first HNT will be of my beautiful wife who will give birth to our first child tomorrow.
Enjoy:

We took a few more pictures that are more like three-fourths nekkid, but those are for our daughter to find when she’s like 15 so that she’ll be supremely warped (if she already isn’t before hand).
Since I touched on Michael Bay earlier this week. I figured I needed to link to this article about his latest moobie “The Island” over at MSNBC:

Here’s a quick quote:
Whether Bay is directing “Pearl Harbor” or “Armageddon” or his new science-fiction epic, “The Island,” you know exactly what to expect: (a) a plot that recycles ideas from better movies, (b) a love story so unapologetically banal that only George Lucas could rival it, (c) chase sequences that defy logic but are usually loud enough to silence any objections, and (d) explosives that blow up real good.

Bravo Mr. Hartl, Bravo!
