If you live in Alabama (like I do), let your state Representative and Congressman know you don’t want any part of a bill to burn dump books in a big hole.

You can find out who your rep and senator is by going here:
Look up your Alabama rep

You’ll need to know your ZIP+4

For those of you that don’t know what this is about, HB30 which was introduced by Representative Gerald Allen of Tuscaloosa. (And people wonder why I despise the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa). HB30’s meat and potatoes follows:

No public funds or public facilities shall be used by any state agency, public school, public library, or public college or university for the purchase, production, or promotion of printed or electronic materials or activities that, directly or indirectly, sanction, recognize, foster, or promote a lifestyle or actions prohibited by the sodomy and sexual misconduct laws of the state of Alabama.

In other words, it bans books, and in the process makes our state look like a bunch of morons from the dark ages. Get on the phone, kick out an email, Get Mad.

Despite the fact that this bill died in the Education Committee last week, let your Rep and Congressman know that this type of Nazi action will not make Alabama a better state.
